English fan spends £500 to visit Mestalla, praises Valencia over Madrid and Barcelona | OneFootball

According to Superdeporte, an English groundhopper travelled from Birmingham to Valencia and spent about £500, close to €600, to experience Mestalla, one of European football’s great traditional homes.

Known as ‘Dills’ on social media, he flew in at the weekend to see Valencia’s historic ground first hand. He regularly shares his stadium trips on X.

He itemised the outlay on flights, hotel, food and a ticket, which came to £500, more than some season tickets. He said he was delighted to visit what he sees as an old-school stadium before Valencia move to another.

In further posts he named Valencia his favourite city in Europe, ahead of Madrid and Barcelona. Many Valencia fans replied to thank him.

A Birmingham City supporter who has seen many top grounds, he added that, in his view, most modern stadiums lack soul, so he was glad to visit Mestalla now.
