Estevao is in Brazil having “conservative treatment” to keep World Cup hopes alive | OneFootball

I really don’t like the sound of this one. It appears that Estevao might be prioritising the World Cup rather than his long term health.

Obviously I am not a Doctor, so it is just my opinion when I am speaking on these things loosely based on knowledge. But this does not sound great in my view.

Estevao has been injured for a few weeks now and has not been playing or seen at Chelsea. He is now apparently in Brazil getting treatment. Why is he not at Chelsea and being looked after and advised by their medical team? This makes little sense to me. He’s back at his former club Palmeiras!?

And it sounds like this is because he wants to avoid surgery so it gives him a chance of playing in the World Cup this summer. Which might be fine now, but what effect will this have on his injury in the long term?

Estevao in Brazil

Diario AS journalist Eduardo Burgos reports:

“Estêvão has been in Brazil since the beginning of the week to receive treatment for his injury with Palmeiras.

“He is undergoing conservative treatment to avoid going under the knife and to keep his options open for the World Cup.

“The CBF will wait for him until the last minute.”
