Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has confirmed that important defender Joe Rodon will be sidelined for a period after sustaining an ankle injury.
Rodon was forced off after half an hour as Leeds drew 1-1 with Sunderland. “Not good,” his boss confirmed. “He has a hit on his ankle, it is pretty swollen.
“I doubt he will be available for Liverpool and the FA Cup games.”
The Welshman has started all but one league match for Leeds so far this season, and will be a big miss in the coming weeks.
The draw at the Stadium of Light was another strong result for Leeds. Farke’s side are now unbeaten in their last five matches.
He reflected: “The unbeaten run continues. Great mentality to come back. Another point for the table.
“No other team has come away with a better result, Sunderland are unbeaten here.”
Leeds went behind in the first-half, before Dominic Calvert-Lewin levelled after the break.
The German coach admitted: “I was not happy in the first 30 mins, we were not defending well and being aware. Maybe I was slightly louder at half-time than usual.
“We dominated here. The gut feeling is that we could have started the game better. Without the injury I would have made the change to four at the back.
“Lots of credit for this away performance. Normally we win this game given the stats.
“We take the point, a good point, but no dancing tonight because three points were possible.”
As the team extended their run to five without defeat, striker Calvert-Lewin extended his scoring streak to six straight Premier League games. The Englishman now has seven goals across his last six appearances.
Farke insisted: “He invests a lot, and you get that back. It’s not important if this run continues, I’d like it, but it’s important he shows this responsibility.
“If you work for the team and not selfishly, the goals will come.”
