FC Bayern Women finished in the top positions in several categories in this year’s International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) awards.
The IFFHS chooses the best male and female players around the world in several categories each year using statistics and an international jury of journalists and experts from 75 countries. The period each year covers 1 January to 10 December.
Bayern forward Klara Bühl crowned an excellent 12 months by being name the fourth-best women’s player in the world. The 25-year-old had played a key role in Bayern’s historic first domestic double and was also crucial to Germany’s efforts at the summer’s Euros. Bühl has been particularly prolific this season as a provider. No player across Europe’s top five leagues has had a direct hand in more goals than her.
The Germany international came tied in fourth with two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas on 30 points. Aitana Bonmati took the award with 196 points, ahead of Alessia Russo (70) and Mariona Caldentey (55). Chloe Kelly, Temwa Chawinga, Leah Williamson, Barbra Banda and Ewa Pajor complete the top 10.
Momoko Tanikawa’s performances throughout 2025 were also recognised as the Japan international came fourth in the IFFHS’ list of best U20 players in the world, behind Vicky Lopez, Linda Caicedo and Michelle Agyemang. Tanikawa has started 17 games in all competitions for Bayern this season, scoring six goals, including in the recent Champions League wins over Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.
As well as the individual awards, the whole Bayern team had their achievements recognised by coming third in the best club category behind Barcelona and Corinthians. According to the IFFHS, that was down to an impressive November, in which no other club in the world had better results and allowed the Munich Frauen to climb the rankings late in the year.
