Former Bayern Munich defender set to join Metz | OneFootball

Bouna Sarr (33) has been without a club for 16 months, ever since the expiry of his contract at Bayern Munich. L’Équipe now understands that the defender could be offered a route back into the game. 

Sarr played 110 matches for Metz between 2009 and 2015, successfully helping Les Grenats remain in the top flight. However, the former Olympique de Marseille defender has been a free agent ever since the expiry of his contract at Bayern Munich in the summer of 2024. 

He could now bounce back at Metz. As per a report from L’Équipe, Sarr is set to train with Metz from Tuesday. If he can prove his fitness, the Ligue 1 club, who have just won two matches on the bounce, could offer him a contract. The club are notably looking to anticipate the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by bringing in reinforcements. 

The former Bayern Munich defender has been training individually ever since the expiry of his contract. During his time in Bavaria, Sarr was prone to injuries and notably suffered an ACL injury in 2023.
