Former Wolves striker Rafa Mir has been sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison in Spain for sexually assaulting two women and causing physical harm.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, a lower court in Valencia found that Mir and another footballer assaulted the women in 2024 at Mir’s home in the city, where he was then playing.

Judges imposed seven years for sexual assault and a further 18 months for causing injury. The second player, identified in court documents as Pablo J G, a lower-division footballer in Spain, received two-and-a-half years.

Mir denied wrongdoing, saying the women consented to sex. The court cited the victim’s consistent and credible account, backed by witness evidence and forensic reports.

The victim was awarded compensation of €64,000, and the ruling is not final and may be appealed.

Mir, 28, played for Elche in La Liga last season on loan from Sevilla, with his deal due to end this month. He joined Wolves in 2018 and left in 2021 after three loans, making four appearances without scoring.
