Barry Douglas, the full-back who helped Wolves win the Championship in his sole season at Molineux, has announced his retirement. The player said in a post that he was stepping away from the playing side of the game.
Signed from Konyaspor in Türkiye, the Scot scored five goals in 42 appearances across all competitions as Nuno led Wolves to the Championship title.
Born in Glasgow, his career began at Queen’s Park before a move to Dundee United, where he spent three years. He then joined Lech Poznan, winning the top flight and a double in Poland, before switching to Türkiye ahead of his Wolves stint.
Following promotion he left Molineux when Leeds United paid three million pounds. After three years at Leeds and a short loan at Blackburn Rovers, he returned to Poznan and lifted the Polish title again.
Douglas finished his career with St Johnstone last season. His announcement reflected pride at making it as a professional, winning titles in different countries and representing his country, and it thanked the clubs and people he worked with.
