Corinthians have confirmed the amicable termination of Héctor Hernández’s contract. The move trims R$ 4.8 million from the men’s football wage bill.
Signed in August 2024 under president Augusto Melo and executive Fabinho Soldado, Hernández arrived as a free agent, recommended by the club’s Cifut and approved by Ramón Díaz. Before advancing for him, Corinthians explored Alex Arce, Gonzalo Plata and Guido Carrillo.
He debuted on 29 August 2024 in a 2-1 Copa do Brasil defeat to Juventude. Hernández featured most under Díaz with 17 outings across 2024 and 2025, then played only seven times for Dorival Júnior. In total he made 24 appearances, 10 starts, with two goals and one assist.
His standout moment came with the decisive strike in Dorival’s first game, a 1-0 win over Grêmio Novorizontino in the 2025 Copa do Brasil. He also scored in that year’s Brasileirão opener, a 1-1 draw with Bahia.
In August 2025 he was removed from the main group and assigned different schedules at CT Joaquim Grava. Dorival kept the matter with the hierarchy, and later there were enquiries, though he remained and continued on an alternate timetable.
“No justification was given. When the time comes, which I believe will come, I will speak and explain everything that happened. Here you lose three or four games and they want to change everything. At Corinthians they even changed president, which keeps the instability and is not good.” He told Marca.
