Spanish manager Pep Guardiola, head coach of Manchester City, praised the performance of Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush, who delivered a decisive display that helped the Citizens secure a 3-1 victory over Swansea City on Wednesday night in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Marmoush netted the second goal in the 77th minute with a stunning strike from a difficult angle, marking his first start in over a month since returning from injury with Egypt against Burkina Faso in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking to the club's official website, Guardiola said: “I am very happy for Omar. Strikers always need to score, and this goal is crucial for his confidence. He was sidelined for a long time due to his injury, and he is naturally capable of playing in Erling Haaland's position.”
He added: "Erling is an important player, but we need both of them. Omar's return is fantastic. He knows how to be patient, move in tight spaces, and stay calm in front of goal."
The quarter-final promises to be a high-level clash between Manchester City and Chelsea.
