Lorenzo Insigne came full circle today, as after more than 5,000 days he started as Pescara captain and scored for their victory over Palermo in Serie B.
The 34-year-old former Italy, Napoli and Toronto FC star made his name on loan at Pescara in Serie B during the 2011-12 campaign.
Zdenek Zeman was the coach, and his teammates for the Delfini were Ciro Immobile and Marco Verratti, all of them going on to stellar careers.

The striker returned to Pescara as a free agent in January after his contract with Toronto FC expired and today had his first start for the club in nearly 14 years, wearing the captain’s armband.
It became an even more special occasion, because Insigne also scored in their 2-1 comeback victory over Palermo.

His last goal for the club had also been at the Stadio Adriatico in May 2012, a gap of 5,041 days.
Despite this result, Pescara remain rock bottom of the Serie B table with four wins, nine draws and 14 defeats.
