Inter Milan welcome Bodo/Glimt to the San Siro on Tuesday evening for the conclusion of their Champions League knockout round play-off tie.

The hosts have it all to do after a 3-1 first-leg defeat against a team bidding to reach the round of 16 for the first time.

Match preview

No team has reached more Champions League finals than Inter in the last three seasons (two), but they are at risk of failing to reach the round of 16 for the first time since 2020-21.

They were emphatically beaten by Bodo/Glimt last Wednesday, snapping their six-game winless run across all competitions.

However, the Nerazzurri returned to winning ways in their 2-0 triumph over Leece last time out, which extended their lead at the top of the Serie A table to 10 points.

Having scored 11 times across their last three home outings, Inter have not been short of goals in front of their fans lately and will need another big performance on Tuesday to overturn a two-goal deficit.

Bodo/Glimt wrote yet another impressive chapter in their debut Champions League campaign by beating Inter 3-1 at the Aspmyra Stadion.

That was a fifth straight win for Kjetil Knusten’s men, who are also now unbeaten in seven games across all competitions.

They are now 90 minutes away from making their first-ever last-16 appearance, which would make them the first Norwegian team in 30 years to do so.

Team news

Denzel Dumfries has not featured since November due to an ankle injury and has yet to return.

Lautaro Martinez missed Inter’s last outing with a calf problem and is also unavailable for Tuesday’s game.

Pio Esposito will likely partner Marcus Thuram up front, although Ange-Yoan Bonny could also be deployed.

With no league action over the weekend, Bodo/Glimt are expected to name an unchanged team from the first leg.

Kasper Hogh has scored in four straight outings for the away side and is one to keep an eye on.

Inter Milan Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Bastoni, Acerbi, Akanji; Dimarco, Sucic, Zielinski, Frattesi, Henrique; Thuram, Esposito.

Bodo/Glimt Predicted XI (4-3-3): Haikin; Sjovold, Bjortuft, Gundersen, Bjorkan; Evjen, Berg, Fet; Blomberg, Hogh, Hauge.

Prediction: Inter Milan 2-1 Bodo/Glimt.
