It's Liverpool battling Arsenal to agree a ridiculous deal

Liverpool and Arsenal are battling to agree a deal, according to reports. But why?

Planning for the summer transfer window is now firmly underway after the winter window shut. It's not going to be an easy one at Anfield, though.

A massive spend last time out was supposed to deliver an all-conquering team. Instead, things have gone backwards and Liverpool do not feel like things are on the right track.

So do you rip it up? Do you double down? Do you spend much more money knowing it may lead to an even more expensive failure? Or do you tighten the purse strings in an effort to stabilise things?

We imagine it'll be the former, honestly. Liverpool have areas of the squad they simply have to improve if they're to compete at the very top.

And that means investing even more in attack. One reported target, however, seems bizarre.

Christian Pulisic to Anfield?

TuttoMercatoWeb claims Liverpool and Arsenal are serious contenders to sign Christian Pulisic from AC Milan. The American could leave Italy this summer.

Pulisic will only have a year left on his deal after this season and Milan will sell if he doesn't renew. That has apparently alerted major English clubs.

But Liverpool? The Reds do need a winger who can run with the ball, having failed to replace Luis Diaz. Pulisic does not seem like the right option, though.

He's now 27 and hasn't even scored more than 12 league goals in a season. His Premier League career with Chelsea never took off despite 98 appearances, either.
