FC Barcelona suffer a second consecutive loss as they fail to beat Girona away from home. Instead, the opposition take all three points and La Blaugrana are left in second place in the league with nothing to show for themselves.
A 2-1 loss, only Pau Cubarsi managed to find the back of the net for the Catalan giants. However, this was far from a straightforward ordeal, with some extremely questionable calls from the match officials stealing the show.
Here are the player ratings for Hansi Flick’s team.
Player Ratings:
Joan Garcia: 9.5/10
Immense performance from the Spaniard, who did everything possible to keep Barcelona in this game. Made save after save even when they seemed impossible to make, and was always calm under pressure.
Jules Kounde: 7.0/10
Provided a great assist, and his performance greatly improved during the second half. However, he was clearly fouled in the build up for Girona’s second goal, but ultimately a scandalous decision still gave the opposition the goal.
Pau Cubarsi: 8.0/10
Solid performance from the young defender, who managed to score a great header and was the only person who managed to find the back of the net for Barça. He should have been more aware for Girona’s first goal, however.
Eric Garcia: 6.5/10
Clearly frustrated with himself after being substituted, but his performance was decent. Won a fair bit of his duels, and his passing was great as well throughout the time that he was on the pitch. Conceded a rather unnecessary yellow card, however.
Gerard Martin: 6.0/10
The Spanish left-back tried to create some danger from the left flank and tend to his defensive duties simultaneously. However, it was difficult for him to deal with the opposition both offensively and defensively at the same time.
Frenkie de Jong: 7.0/10
Tried his best to make a difference in this game, whether it be through his ball carrying ability or passes. However, he was ultimately unable to help his team get all three points in this crucial game.
Dani Olmo: 6.5/10
Reliable with his distribution and tried to create openings for the team with his passing. However, he failed to dictate play as Hansi Flick would have ideally liked, but still a decent performance.
Lamine Yamal: 5.0/10
A disastrous performance for much of the game, including a missed penalty, but he clearly improved during the end of the second half. Unfortunately, it was not enough to help the Catalan giants turn this game around.

Fermin Lopez: 6.5/10
The young midfielder was not exactly too prominent for much of the game, but his energy near the end of the match almost helped Barça mount some kind of comeback.
Raphinha: 7.0/10
Added a lot of energy and his presence was clearly felt. He was unfortunate not to score in this game after hitting the woodwork, but it was great to see him back in action.
Ferran Torres: 6.0/10
Barely received any good service but hardly made himself useful either. A poor performance, but the fault for it falls on both him and his teammates as well.
Substitutes:
Alejandro Balde: 6.0/10
Sharp on the left flank and tried to create something here and there with his crosses and movement.
Roony Bardghji: 6.5/10
Almost managed to find the back of the net with his shots and trickery, the Swedish winger was a positive addition to the game for Barcelona.
Ronald Araujo: N/A
Not enough time or influence on the game to warrant a rating.
Robert Lewandowski: N/A
Not enough time or influence on the game to warrant a rating.
