John Textor and Mike Ashley have both been linked with buying Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is still refusing to relinquish his control of the club despite administration looming.
The Owls’ woes in 2025 have been well-documented, with Chansiri failing to pay players on time in five of the last seven months, leading to the club being placed under five different embargoes.
A mass exodus in the summer saw boss Danny Rohl leave, along with key operators such as Djeidi Gassama, Michael Smith and Josh Windass, with just the loan signings of Harry Amass and Ethan Horvath to compensate.
It has recently been reported that Wednesday will be served a winding-up order imminently, over £1m that is owed to HMRC. This also brings forth the threat of administration, which would see the Steel City side slapped with a 12-point penalty, all but confirming their relegation to League One.
Several figures have been linked with buying Sheffield Wednesday over the past few months, including US businessman John Textor and former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley, but have been able to crack Chansiri reported £100m asking price.

With it still uncertain over when a takeover could happen, Football League World’s Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit, Patrick McKenna, has offered a piece of advice to interested parties such as Textor and Ashley over how they should handle the situation.
“Wait until we go into administration and don't give Chansiri any money,” Patrick advised the pair when talking to FLW.
“Because he does not deserve a penny for his abhorrent management of the club and how he treats the fans.
“The walls are closing in now on Mr Chansiri and he is set to lose everything. The club is going to be taken from him and that is absolutely what he deserves. Don't give in to his ridiculous and unreasonable asking prices. Save your money and use it once you've bought the club.
"Administration brings points deductions but we're going down anyway. As I stated, trying to negotiate a sale with him, you're absolutely wasting your time. So be smarter, just wait.
“Don't give in and let Chansiri leave with no money.”

Despite recent pressure from the EFL and HMRC to address Sheffield Wednesday’s perilous financial situation or sell the club on, Chansiri remains committed to staying in control of the Steel City side.
The Sheffield Star recently spoke with a figure who was previously involved with a takeover deal to buy the club and described the process as a “nonsense”, stating that he didn’t know what the Thai businessman was “trying to do”.
Journalist Alan Nixon reported via Patreon that Chansiri has gone against the advice of his best advisors by not putting Wednesday into administration and instead is looking to cling onto his ownership in any way possible.
These revelations will anger the Owls’ faithful enormously, who will be desperate to see the back of the Thai businessman once and for all.
Administration would force the issue, but the longer that Chansiri resists that eventuality, the further into despair Wednesday fall, making them an increasingly unattractive prospect to take over for any potential buyer.
