Real Sociedad B full-back Jon Balda is recovering in hospital after an abdominal procedure following a spleen trauma sustained at Huesca. The club said on Tuesday he is at Hospital Servet de Zaragoza, with further details to follow once a medical report is issued.

Real Sociedad B won 2-1 at Huesca’s El Alcoraz, with goals from Astiazaran and Ochieng, a result that all but seals their safety.

In the 39th minute Jon Ansotegi was forced into a change after Balda collided with team-mate Kita while contesting a loose ball.

Balda could not continue and was taken off on a stretcher, with Agote replacing him. The txuri-urdin party travelled back to Donostia without the defender.

With three rounds remaining in LaLiga Hypermotion, all indications are that the full-back, who renewed in October until 2028, will not play again this season.
