Newcastle United making reported bids of £50m and then £55m but Wolves refusing to sell.

Jorgen Strand Larsen had scored 14 goals and got four assists in his first season in the Premier League with Wolves.

Now talking about that blocked move to Newcastle United, though he did get a measure of compensation to make up for his disappointment at not being allowed to move to Tyneside, with Wolves giving him a much enhanced new contract taking him up to 2030.

Jorgen Strand Larsen talking to VG following the Wolves draw at Tottenham on Saturday, when the striker played the first 84 minutes of the match:

“Everyone wants to take new steps.

“It was a Champions League club that was being talked about…

“But it will happen again and it will continue.

“The important thing is that the club showed confidence in me afterwards and we solved that in a good way [with the new enhanced contract].

“It has been turbulent this summer.

“Personally, I think it was great to be done with it.

“Of course you are a little affected, everyone has a dream of taking new steps.

“At the same time, I feel very safe and good here at Wolves. I got the captain’s armband today [for the match against Spurs] and I feel that I am important to the team.

“But at the same time, you want to take new steps when you’re doing well.

“The more years I do well at Wolves, the better my chances are in the future.
