Real Madrid have opened direct talks with José Mourinho and his agent Jorge Mendes, with Benfica aware and keen for him to continue, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The report says Florentino Pérez has taken the first step towards a reunion and is not giving up. It adds that, if a concrete offer arrives, Mourinho would accept a return to Spain next season.

The prospect of Mourinho heading back to Madrid has gathered momentum in recent days.
Mourinho’s contract at Benfica runs until the summer of 2027. For now, his focus is on guiding the team into the Champions League.
To achieve that, Benfica must beat Braga and Estoril to secure second place in the league.
