Jude Bellingham speaks out on Real Madrid red card vs Osasuna | OneFootball

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has provided his response to the red card shown to him during the club’s meeting with Osasuna.

The name of midfielder Bellingham has of course dominated the headlines in Spain across the evening to date.

This comes after the 21-year-old was at the heart of an unusual incident during Real’s trip to El Sadar to face the aforementioned Osasuna.

En route to a 1-1 draw between the sides, Bellingham was given his marching orders late in the first-half, following an exchange with referee Jose Munuera.

The England international was left looking nothing short of baffled by the decision, adamant that he had not said anything deserving of a red card.

Speaking to the media post-match, the subject of his dismissal was therefore inevitably put to Bellingham himself.

And the former Borussia Dortmund standout went on to reveal his take that, upon review of the footage, ‘the reality’ of the situation will be confirmed:

“I never insulted the referee, I’m glad to see there are videos to show the reality despite the referee’s report. I’m here to apologise to my teammates as I put them in a difficult situation today.”

Drawn on Munuera’s claims that Bellingham said ‘f**k you’ to the official, he continued:

”It’s clear that there was a communication error. It’s an expression like Spanish one ‘joder’… and the consequence is that it left us with one less player. It’s not an insult, it was an expression for myself.”
