Kaizer Chiefs center-back Xolani Cossa has signed his first professional contract with the club as his development deal was set to run until June 2026.
The 21-year-old defender joined Botswana FNB Premiership outfit Black Lions on a season-long loan for the ongoing campaign.
Lions are a newly branded team in the Botswana topflight as they purchased the professional status of VTM.
Cossa will work under the tutelage of his compatriot Owen Da Gama, who was appointed as the club’s new head coach last month.
This comes after Da Gama parted ways with Betway Premiership side Magesi FC at the end of last season after the two parties failed to agree on new contractual terms.
As a result, John Maduka was roped in to steer the ship, with the club in its second season in the elite league.
Meanwhile, Cossa, who was named player’s player of the season for Chiefs DDC side in the 2023/24 season, will be keen to impress in Botswana to catch the eye of coach Nasreddine Nabi.
