According to Fabrizio Romano, the left-back will make the move to Carrow Road for the remainder of the campaign before returning to the Premier League side.

Amass spent the first half of the season on loan with Sheffield Wednesday, where his performances earned him plenty of plaudits.

The defender contributed one goal and one assist from 21 appearances in the Championship, standing out for an Owls side that struggled for results.

The 18-year-old has also previously featured five times in the Premier League for Man United, but is not currently in their first team plans under Michael Carrick.

It is believed that Amass will join Norwich for the remainder of the Championship season despite initial interest from Sheffield Wednesday in a return to Hillsborough.

The Canaries have reportedly agreed a dry loan, which will not involve an option to buy clause.

Amass is a very highly rated young prospect at Man United, so it will not come as a surprise that the Premier League side want to bring the player back in the summer.

Stoke were also linked with a move to sign the teenager, but Norwich have been able to strike an agreement with the Manchester outfit for the rest of the season.

Philippe Clement will be hoping that Amass’ arrival can aid the club’s bid to avoid relegation from the second division.

The Canaries are currently 20th in the table, just two points clear of 22nd place Blackburn Rovers, while having also played a fixture more than the teams below them.

Amass could make his debut as early as this weekend, if the deal is completed in time, when Norwich face league leaders Coventry City on 26 January in an 8pm kick-off.

Harry Amass deal is a real coup for Norwich

It was always likely that Man United would only sanction a loan, with no route towards a permanent deal.

The 18-year-old is considered a future first team player at Old Trafford, and the Red Devils will now want him playing every week to ensure he continues his impressive rate of development.

It is still a great move for Norwich despite it just being a simple loan, as the youngster has proven himself as an impressive Championship calibre player in recent months.

It does come as a big blow to Sheffield Wednesday that he’s made this switch, but ultimately Man United have made a move that they feel will better help the player’s development.
