The stadium clock in Leipzig is already counting down the seconds of stoppage time left on this warm September afternoon as the ball sits motionless by the left corner flag. Klara Bühl stands ready, her posture quietly confident, her eyes firmly fixed on the six-yard box. It's the moment when routine and finesse come together: with an elegance that is the result of years of precision, she whips the ball into the penalty area, where it finds Vanessa Gilles, who finishes with her head to make it 3-0 with an almost casual ease. It's Bühl's third assist of the afternoon, her fourth in the second game of the season. A tally that reads like a promise.
In recent months, the Germany international has not only worked her way up to the top, she has established herself there. Her performances have long been more than consistent; they're an expression of a maturity that is unrivalled. The 25-year-old's Hinrunde can only be summarised in superlatives. Bühl is always modest: "I always try to be there for the team, whether with goals, assists or simply through my commitment. In football, especially in my game, it's about being bold," says the 25-year-old.
This weekend, FC Bayern Women host Leipzig (Sunday, 18:30 CET) in the Bundesliga, the first match of the new year. And perhaps Bühl will once again have the opportunity to demonstrate her fine instinct for the decisive moment, as she did in the first leg. It remains to be seen whether she'll manage another feat like that, but one thing is certain: anyone watching her will realise that it's always possible.
Three assists in one match. For many women's footballers, this remains a dream that may never come true. Bühl has already achieved this feat twice this season. You could almost give her the name ‘Klar-Assist Bühl’. Just two months after her performance in Leipzig, she repeated the same feat, this time on the big stage: in Bayern's stunning comeback against Arsenal (3-2) at the Allianz Arena, it was once again the 25-year-old who dominated the game. The winger set up all three goals with a fine touch and a clear vision. Vote for Player of the Match? A logical consequence, almost a formality. Captain Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir, who scored the decisive goal in the clash against the current Champions League winners, praised Bühl afterwards with a few concise words: "Klara's cross was incredible. I really just had to stand there."
Speaking of formalities: the 25-year-old's current form elevates her to the status of one of the most consistent and influential players in international women's football - something that can not only be surmised, but also proven. One look at the stats is enough: With just 13 Bundesliga games played, Bühl has already racked up six goals and an impressive 12 assists. This means she has by far provided the most assists in the Bundesliga. She's followed in second place by teammmate Georgia Stanway and Wolfsburg's Janou Levels with seven assists each.
Bühl produces stats that other players often only achieve at the end of a long season, but not during the winter break. Coach José Barcala stressed: "Klara is hugely important for our game. She works hard, always puts the team first and brings exceptional quality to the game." Bühl has provided at least one assist in seven of her 13 league games to date. Her development is therefore not only remarkable on a domestic level, but also sets standards across Europe. No other player in the top five European leagues has provided more assists than the Bayern number 17.

Bühl's development has taken on a new dimension, especially when compared to the rest of Europe. In the six matches of the current Champions League season, she's recorded a remarkable eight assists and also contributed one goal. With the exception of the defeat against Barcelona, the winger has been directly involved in at least one goal in every match. More than half of all Bayern goals in this competition are the result of her groundwork.
With twice as many assists as second-placed Alexia Putellas, Bühl is the undisputed leader in the current UWCL season. But that's not all: with a total of 17 assists, she's already one of the 15 best assist providers in the history of the UEFA Women's Champions League. And that at the age of just 25.
While many top scorers define their stats primarily in terms of goals, Bühl stands out as a creative force. She provides structure, is reliable and works tirelessly. Game after game, the Germany international puts in an impressive amount of legwork. One of the 25-year-old's greatest strengths is her hard and precise finishing, as well as being two-footed. Whether with the right or left foot, Bühl always finds a way to send dangerous balls towards her opponent's goal. This unpredictability is what makes her so difficult for her opponents work out what she'll do next. She no longer looks for the direct route to goal at every opportunity, but instead reads the spaces, recognises situations and finds solutions where others have long since given up.
Although the key player usually operates down the left wing, her working radius is greater than ever. She darts inside, overloads half-spaces or opens up passing angles and takes on responsibility, even in dead-ball situations. This makes her all the more invaluable for the entire FC Bayern Women's attack.
What makes Bühl special is not a single outstanding game. It's the reliability. The fact that she makes an impact week after week without imposing herself. Her records are therefore not outliers, but snapshots of a consistently high level.
The double winners now face Leipzig at the weekend, this time in Munich. The third clash in front of a home crowd against the team from Saxony. It's a game in which, on paper, Bayern are the favourites. Bühl will once again be in the spotlight, not because she wants to be, but because her game demands it. There is much to suggest that she can once again make the difference. But anyone who watches Bühl knows that she's never interested in the grand spectacle, but in the moment when precision and instinct come together. Perhaps it will be another corner, a pass in behind the back line, a run that opens up space. What remains is the certainty that she can leave her mark on the game. Quietly, but unmistakably.
