It is no secret that this FC Barcelona outfit looks like a completely different team with and without Pedri on the pitch.
The Spanish midfield maestro is the team’s metronome, and there is simply nobody in the squad who controls matches the way he does.
The fact that he is only 23 years old makes his quality and maturity even more astounding. Teammates and opponents alike are amazed by the midfielder’s wizardry.
One such rival who has been left completely in awe of Pedri happens to be Real Oviedo captain and La Liga legend Santi Cazorla.
In an interview with SPORT recently, the legendary midfielder openly admitted his admiration for Pedri.
“He’s already one of the best in the world at that age. He’s a special player, one we all enjoy watching every time he plays,” said Cazorla.
“I think Barcelona really notice the difference when Pedri isn’t there. They have some absolutely brilliant players in that position, but I believe Pedri brings something different to the team,” he further added.
Not stopping there, Cazorla continued: “Above all, he’s a very, very down-to-earth, very normal guy, and I really like that too.
“I think the more normal you are, the better a footballer you are. I’m a huge fan of Pedri, and that’s why I asked him for his shirt too.”
The former Arsenal and Villarreal star, who has played alongside some of the best in the world like Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, Cesc Fabregas, and David Silva, also said he enjoys watching Lamine Yamal. But personally, Pedri impresses him more.
“Because of the position he plays in… It’s the position I’ve always played in. But that’s why I’m a bit more fond of him than of Lamine,” Cazorla said.
“I love watching Lamine play; he’s a unique and standout player in his position – but as I’ve played a bit in the same position as Pedri, I’m a bit more fond of him for that reason, not for any other,” he concluded.
