Langley calls for laser focus | OneFootball

The United boss spoke highly of summer signings, Femke Lieftig, Małgorzata Grec and Jorja Fox, all of whom made their full debuts in the past two away games.

Despite back-to-back defeats across both WSL2 and the Subway Women's League Cup, Langley has been keen for the whole club not to get too high or too low following results, and instead has called for 'laser focus' this weekend.

Here are some of the boss' thoughts ahead of the game on Sunday…

On returning to Gateshead…

"Nothing would excite me more than getting in front of our fans at Gateshead, making the atmosphere really lively going into the game and making it as tough as possible with that home advantage against Charlton.

"We know they're a really hard team to play against, and Karen (Hill) always has Charlton well set up, and we know they’ve had a strong start to the season, but we'll be ready for the challenge ahead on Sunday."

On what she wants to see from her players against Charlton…

"It's so important not to be on the rollercoaster of the highs and lows; it's easy to feel bottom of the ocean after a loss and easy to get carried away when you win.

"I think the girls will be focused on what their roles are, and we just need to laser our focus into what the game plan is and how we need to perform."

On the full debuts of Femke Liefting, Jora Fox and Małgorzata Grec…

"It was important for them to get valuable minutes, especially for international players, because it can sometimes take a little bit of time to settle into the North East culture and become part of our group.

"So I think it’s important that they all keep building their rhythm, and I thought all three of them did well on Wednesday night."

On Fox's first competitive start in over two years…

"It was brilliant for Jorja, given it was her first game in two years. I've been really impressed with her professionalism, and she has lots to offer, which I think we saw in snapshots on Wednesday night.

"Her ability to go one-v-one and her consistency of deliveries were threatening, and she's got that natural understanding and tendencies for that wing-back role, and it's all about building from there."
