Leeds United have been handed mixed injury news before back-to-back home games, with Swedish international Gabriel Gudmundsson available again after illness, while Noah Okafor remains sidelined with a hamstring problem until the middle of next month. Daniel Farke added that the rest of the squad are training well and in good spirits.
According to Sunderland Echo, title contenders Manchester City visit Elland Road on Saturday evening, then Sunderland arrive in midweek.
Leeds were beaten 3-2 at the Etihad in the reverse fixture after a bold second-half fightback, but they have since lost only two of their last 16 in all competitions. That run has opened up a six-point buffer to the relegation zone and taken them into the FA Cup fifth round, where they will host Farke’s former club Norwich City.
Farke will hope to avenge the City defeat before aiming to edge past Sunderland, having drawn 1-1 at the Stadium of Light in December.
Set plays have been a strong suit, with Leeds scoring 13 from corners or free-kicks this season. Sunderland’s tally is almost half that, and the two sides have conceded a combined 20 from dead balls. Farke stressed they must be spot on in both boxes and at least break even on set pieces if they are to take something against City.
