Madonna says Celta Vigo’s missing shirt is in her archives | OneFootball

Madonna has told Celta Vigo their missing shirt, worn during her 1990 concert at Balaidos, is in her archives after a public appeal.

In a post on X, the 67-year-old, whose full name is Madonna Ciccone, said the shirt is hanging in her archives and that she was with the team in spirit.

Earlier this week the club’s president, Marian Mourino Terrazo, issued an open letter seeking help to trace the sky blue shirt, calling it a symbol of the club’s emotional heritage.

The Galician club currently sit sixth in Spain’s top division.

Madonna performed at Balaidos on 29 July 1990 and wore the team’s shirt during the show.

Ahead of Friday night’s match against Real Madrid at the same ground, Celta screened concert footage and staged a Like A Prayer routine with a band, dancers and singers.

The letter cast the photograph of Madonna in Celta colours as part of the club’s story beyond the pitch and expressed hope the original garment can be found.

Madonna is the bestselling female artist of all time as of 2023, when Guinness World Records last certified the mark. She has 13 UK number one singles and 12 number one albums, and is known for hits including Like A Virgin, Holiday and Into The Groove.
