Chelsea retain full faith in summer signing Jamie Gittens despite his difficult start to the season according to reports.
Gittens joined Chelsea for an initial £48m from Borussia Dortmund, but has struggled to make an impact and has often found himself on the bench.
The England under-21 international has yet to register a goal or assist this season, and is arguably third choice on the left wing behind Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro Neto.
Gittens came on as a second half substitute against Benfica, but despite some nice runs with the ball his end product let him down.
He would either get dispossessed or play the wrong pass, much to the frustration of the supporters, but again this is part and parcel of signing young players.
Gittens has struggled following his arrival from Borussia Dortmund.
Gittens has started just two league games this season, and on both occasions he struggled and was withdrawn before the hour mark.
Garnacho and Estevao Willian have shown much more than Gittens, and he’s arguably at the bottom of the pecking order when it comes to wingers.
There’s still plenty of upside with Gittens, and a high chance he will come good, and Mail Sport have reported Chelsea retain full faith that the youngster will come good despite his difficult start to the season.
Whilst Gittens has struggled, Estevao has impressed this season and has already started four of the opening six league matches.
The 18-year-old excites fans when he’s on the ball and plays without fear, whilst he’s also displayed the undoubted talent he has.

His decision making and end product still need to improve as you’d expect, but already he’s becoming a fan favourite.
Estevao was on the bench against Benfica and has a good chance of returning to the starting line-up for Saturday’s huge game against Liverpool.
