Man United target ex-Corinthians star, transfer move planned

Manchester United is considering the possibility of investing in the signing of defender Murillo, who was revealed by Corinthians and is currently playing for Nottingham Forest, also in England. The defender, trained at Terrão, has caught the attention of the Old Trafford club for the next transfer window.

According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, the United management considers Murillo one of the most prominent young defenders in the Premier League and sees him as an alternative to replace a potential departure of Harry Maguire. The English defender's contract is valid only until the end of the current European season and he is not expected to renew it.

In this scenario, according to the newspaper, Manchester United's intention is to attempt to sign Murillo in the middle of the year, during the transfer window preceding the 2026/27 European football season.

Closely monitoring the situation, Corinthians is keeping a close eye on the movements involving the former player, as they are entitled to receive amounts in case of a future negotiation. When they agreed to sell Murillo to Nottingham Forest, the alvinegro club secured 10% of the profit obtained by the English in a potential transfer of the player.

It's worth remembering that the percentages related to the defender generated debate in 2025. In the negotiation carried out in 2023, Corinthians announced they had retained 10% of the economic rights for a future sale, after agreeing to the transfer for 12 million euros, with the possibility of an additional 2 million euros in bonuses. However, it was later clarified that Timão is entitled only to a share of Nottingham Forest's profit in a new negotiation. At the time, Duilio Monteiro Alves, then president of the club, described the discrepancy as a “communication error in the sale.”
