Erling Haaland’s wishes for his next club if and when he does decide to move on from Manchester City have been revealed in a new report.

The 25-year-old committed his long-term future to the 2023 treble winners in January as he penned a sensational 10-year deal at the Etihad Stadium that will keep him in sky blue till his 34th birthday.

City’s talisman has made a blistering start to the 2025-26 campaign and while Pep Guardiola’s side undergoes a period of transition following a busy transfer window, Haaland is showing no signs of slowing down after grabbing his seventh goal of the season in six games against Arsenal on Sunday.

The Norway international, who joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, has scored 131 times and provided 21 assists in 152 appearances in all competitions for the club he supported as a child – averaging a goal contribution per game during his time in England.

A player of Haaland’s calibre on and off the pitch will no doubt attract interest from the best clubs in Europe but it was a huge statement of intent from Manchester City to rivals domestically and abroad when they tied down their biggest superstar till the end of the 2033-34 season.

Haaland led Manchester City to a historic treble in his debut season in England and has won the Premier League Golden Boot in each of his first two years in the Premier League, underpinning his impact on City and their continued dominance in England under Guardiola.

Often criticised for his limited role in Manchester City’s construction of play from the back, the Scandinavian forward has steadily improved on his link-up play since he started working with Guardiola and has drawn huge plaudits for his all-round displays when leading the line for the Blues this season.

It remains to be seen whether Haaland would express a desire for a new challenge in the years to come and it has to be said that Guardiola’s future would likely play a role in the Norwegian’s outlook on Manchester City, with the City boss out of contract at the Etihad Stadium in two years’ time.

TBR Football have reported that Haaland will prioritise a move to Spain if and when he decides to leave Manchester City over the course of the remainder of his current contract at the Etihad Stadium, with Real Madrid and Barcelona huge admirers of the two-time Premier League winner.

Real Madrid were locked in a two-man race with Manchester City to secure Haaland’s signature when he was planning to leave Dortmund, with City seeing off interest from the Spanish capital and bringing Haaland to England.

However, Haaland is understood to hold a desire of testing his talents in La Liga at a later stage in his career and City’s main man will also be tempted by the prospect of potentially linking up with Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr. and former Dortmund teammate Jude Bellingham at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Manchester City will not be worried about the distant future for now and officials at the Etihad Stadium will be relaxed about Haaland’s contract situation for the years to come, with officials holding behind-the-scenes contract talks with the likes of Rodri and Nico O’Reilly after tying down Ruben Dias and Rico Lewis to long-term deals in recent months.
