Manchester City take on Manchester United today in a crucial Premier League fixture for both sides at the Etihad Stadium. Both teams will be desperate to pick up all three points in today’s Manchester derby after both teams have made stuttering starts to the 25/26 season. Pep Guardiola’s side will be eager to pick up three points today to set themselves up for a tricky run of fixtures. They’ll be looking to end a run of two consecutive defeats in the Premier League today after consecutive defeats to Tottenham and Brighton before the international break. Ruben Amorim’s side will be up for the occasion, so a tough test awaits Pep Guardiola’s team.
Manchester City enter today’s Manchester derby with several players unavailable due to injury. Rayan Cherki, Omar Marmoush, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Mateo Kovacic are all out of today’s match. John Stones is also in doubt for today’s match at the Etihad.
The loss of Rayan Cherki and Omar Marmoush does deplete Manchester City’s attacking options. But it is hoped that Phil Foden and Savinho can return to the City squad for today’s match.
Gianluigi Donnarumma: I expect Donnarumma to make his Manchester City debut today. He’s a player who thrives in big games and big moments, so I expect him to start in goal.
Rico Lewis: Fresh off signing a contract extension, Lewis should get the nod at right-back.
Ruben Dias: It is a big day for Manchester City’s leaders, and I’m expecting Dias to start. He must set the tone at the back and help cut out the errors that have plagued City’s recent matches.
Abdukodur Khusanov: Provided he is over a calf injury, Khusanov should partner Dias in defence. His pace could be vital to snuff out United’s threat on the break.
Josko Gvardiol: Provided that Gvardiol is fit, he should start at left-back with Rayan Ait-Nouri unavailable.
Rodri: I’d be surprised if Rodri didn’t start today. If he does, he will need to dictate the midfield battle for his team.
Bernardo Silva: It is a big day for Bernardo Silva as Manchester City’s captain. I expect him to start and do all he can to inspire his team.
Tijjani Reijnders: There is no reason why Reijnders won’t start in midfield.
Phil Foden: If Foden is fully fit, I expect him to start on the right instead of Oscar Bobb. Foden has been missed, and if he starts, he needs to be at his best.
Jeremy Doku: With Marmoush unavailable, the left wing is Doku’s position to make his own. He should start today’s match, and he needs to put in a shift for his team.
Erling Haaland: Haaland must put in a shift today. He has to lead the way up front and put away his chances if and when they arrive. If he does, Manchester City likely win.
