Manchester United have been heavily linked with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, they will not engage in a bidding war with Manchester City for the 23-year-old, per ESPN.
The Tricky Trees are demanding around £120 million for the England international, who has a contract at the City Ground until 2029.
United have money to spend this summer, but they are unwilling to meet Forest’s valuation.
The Red Devils believe the asking price is vastly inflated, but Forest think the valuation is fair given the midfielder is set to play a key role for England at the World Cup.
Anderson is regarded as one of the best midfielders in Europe. He is highly rated for his energy, versatility and technical ability.
He has been a top performer for Forest since joining in 2024, bagging five goals and nine assists in 86 appearances.
United are big admirers of Anderson, but they will not spend £120m on him.
The club have made similar mistakes in the past, but their transfer policy has changed under co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
United reportedly have other midfield targets, including Carlos Baleba, Aurelien Tchouameni and Sandro Tonali.
