Celtic FC Women face Montrose at Links Park today in the Scottish Women’s Premier League. Elena Sadiku’s side go into this one sitting third in the table, three points behind league leaders theRangers and two behind Glasgow City.

After a 1-1 draw to Hibs last weekend, Elena Sadiku will be hoping that her squad can get back to winning ways.

Speaking to The Celtic Star, Sadiku said: “I’m very confident [that the team will give a good reaction to the draw]. That’s the best thing with this team – we’re strong together, everybody wants the same thing, there’s high standards, high quality in training, so I’m really looking forward for the game on Sunday to see the reactions from the players.”

Montrose are joint placed for most goals conceded in the league this season. When asked about if Celtic can score a few goals in this tie, the Celtic FC head coach said: “Scoring goals has not been our issue so far this season. I think we’ve showed great quality in different games.

“It’s been a little bit ups and downs against the top teams but we’ve created chances to score and that’s something we’re really looking forward to do against Montrose as well – creating chances to score goals.

“But also we’ve got to make sure that our defence and our press is very good in terms of how do we look in the defensive positions when we lose the ball. Obviously, when we lose the ball, we want to win it back as quickly as possible. So that’s something we’ve been looking at during the week. We’re ready to go for Sunday’s game.”

Momo Nakao spoke to The Celtic Star ahead of the game…

Speaking about her performance against Hibs last week, which we touted as one of the standouts, she said: “It was a tough game for us. We scored the first goal but I couldn’t score. I had a couple chances but I couldn’t score. I think that needs to be improved next game. I had fun.”

Speaking about Montrose’s goal record and if she thinks she can score or assist, she said: “Yeah, that’s what I’m hoping!”

Speaking about the game as a whole, she said: “We’re very excited for the game. I know they have a player who can score anywhere on the field but we just need to be focused on ourselves and play our style with intensity.

“It was kind of disappointing for us [to draw against Hibs]but we know the most important game is next game and we’re really excited.”

Celtic should be looking for a victory away from home with a few goals to their name. With Morgan Cross’ attacking output this season and Noonan coming back into the fray from the bench, the Celts should have no problem brushing past a Montrose side who have already conceded 19 goals. Maybe a 5-0 victory for the Ghirls?
