There’s a lot of negativity around the club once more after we were held to our fourth goalless stalemate of campaign, this time against Hibs at Celtic Park yesterday afternoon. However despite it not being the result we wanted or deserved, it’s not going to harm our title prospects in the long run.

The players didn’t exactly impress, but they were hardly a let down as some seem to be suggesting, and on any other day it would have been a completely different story. As Callum McGregor has stated Hibs created absolutely nothing and their cause was aided by the abysmal refereeing performance capped by the decision to add on just four minutes and an afternoon where Hibs wasted time from start to finish.
We created several clearcut chances, but unfortunately due to a combination of bad luck and good goalkeeping we failed to make that all important breakthrough in a game we throughly dominated.

Kelechi Iheanacho spurned a fantastic opportunity when he hit the bar from close range, and had a second half effort disallowed, whilst the impressive Marcelo Saracchi was also denied by the woodwork from his superb first half effort. Johnny Kenny thought he’d scored at the end but again was denied by an outstanding save by Sallinger in the Hibs goal. He certainly produced a few impressive stops as the Leith side despite not posing any threat held firm to earn a point from their back-to-the-wall tactics.
Yes, we may be two points adrift of leaders Hearts as things stand, but we’re only six games in and there’s plenty of football still to be played including four matches against the Tynecastle side. Again as Callum McGregor noted yesterday, Aberdeen won all their opening matches last season and were top of the league at this time before collapsing.

So I apologise for sounding more optimistic than most this morning, but I genuinely believe that things are looking a little better on the playing front and in the forward positions as we are going to get goals from this team when it gels properly.
Hopefully that starts on Thursday in the early evening kick-off against Sporting Braga in the Europa League, when we really need a European night atmosphere to BACK THE TEAM.

Yes I’m all for the SACK THE BOARD part of the slogan but that should be secondary on a night like Thursday when Paradise needs to ROAR. Many supporters at the game yesterday would have been thinking the same thing. It’s the start of the match when the Celtic Noise can intimidate opponents not used to the roar so why replace that with silence? Just saying what many supporters are thinking.
Celtic has NO CHANCE of ever winning the Champions League as things stand. However we do have a chance in the Europa League and those who were in Seville twenty-odd years ago will tell you that was an incredible journey and one we should be trying to replicate.
If the silence goes ahead then fine, but it’s up to everyone else who wants to roar the team on to d just that, not sit and wait for the Green Brigade and Bhoys Celtic to find their voices.
Let’s make some Noise for the Bhoys!
Just an Ordinary Bhoy
