Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd is set to miss several weeks of action as he looks to undergo surgery for a sports hernia, an issue close to pubalgia that affects the groin area.

"I want to sort this problem out now," said the player, determined to return at 100% fitness.

Since October, Aguerd has been struggling with persistent pain. Surgery has become necessary for him to continue his career and keep his sights set on the 2026 World Cup.

The operation is scheduled for this week, in coordination with the Marseille medical staff and the Moroccan national team. "The goal is to be ready for international fixtures," added sources from both the club and the national side.
