Billy Miller:
‘Would’ve liked another lower league opposition to allow more chances for the younger players.
Tottenham is a tough match but glad it’s at SJP.
We beat all the form teams when winning the trophy last season so we shouldn’t have any fear for this tie.’
The Armchair fan:
‘Spurs at home is a good draw for us.
We’re at home against a team we’ve got a good record against, plus it’s a chance to knock a Premiership team out on the way to the quarter-finals.
Definitely one of the ties of the round.’
GToon:
‘That’s a tough draw for us…but probably as tough as it gets for them.
I reckon we will edge it by a single goal. We are at home. We can’t ask for more.’
Simon Ritter:
‘With three other seeded Premier League teams progressing tonight, to join Liverpool and Chelsea from Tuesday’s games in round four, we needed luck to avoid a battle of the giants.
Not that we should fear any opponent after smashing allcomers last season.
A home draw against Tottenham is fine by me, although they look far tougher with Thomas Frank in charge than they did when Big Ange called the shots.
The three other all-Premier League ties ensure some big guns will fail to make the quarter-finals.
My last eight are: Brentford, Brighton, Cardiff, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Man City and Newcastle United.
Ours is the tie of the round, though I’m also looking forward to the matches at Anfield and the Emirates.’
Matt Busby said to…:
‘Oh well, at least it’s at home.
And it could have been worse.
If we want to successfully defend the trophy, we’ve got a tough opponent standing between us and the quarter-final.
We usually beat them though and there’s no reason not to look at this fixture in a positive way.
Okay, Wrexham, Grimsby or Cardiff would have been better, but it is what it is.
Some decent sides will bite the dust in this round also.’
David Punton:
‘The draw could have been worse.
Spurs will be tough but at least we are at home. We have also avoided Man City and Liverpool.
You have to beat the good teams to progress and win in a cup competition, but favourable draws in the early rounds are always a help.’
Nat Seaton:
‘Obviously would have preferred to avoid a Premier League team but having a home tie is a big plus.
Spurs won’t want to be coming up to St James’ that’s for sure!
I’m confident we can win, looking forward to it already.’
