Nigel Lonwijk leaves Wolves for Maccabi Haifa in permanent deal | OneFootball

Nigel Lonwijk has completed a permanent move from Wolves to Maccabi Haifa.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 23-year-old departs for £500,000, with Wolves keeping a 25 per cent sell-on clause.

His six and a half year stay ends after joining from PSV Eindhoven in January 2020, initially with the under-18s before progressing through the academy.

Lonwijk did not make a senior appearance for Wolves and took in six loan spells. He featured in several pre-season camps, including the club’s trip to Portugal this summer.

He was absent from the mid-week friendly win over Maidenhead, then finalised the switch to the Israeli Premier League side.

Technical director Matt Jackson called it a good move following a strong development pathway. He highlighted Lonwijk’s extensive loan experience and that he first arrived as a very young player under different academy rules.

With one year left on his contract, Jackson added that a permanent exit suits player and club, allowing Wolves to retain future financial interest alongside an immediate fee. He praised Lonwijk’s professionalism, family responsibilities and example to younger players, and wished him well for the future.
