Nottingham Forest have sacked head coach Sean Dyche after Wednesday night’s 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the City Ground. The stalemate left the Reds three points above the relegation zone with 12 games remaining.

The club said in a statement that Dyche had been relieved of his duties and thanked him and his staff, adding it would make no further comment.

Appointed in October, Dyche became Forest’s third manager of the season. Owner Evangelos Marinakis had already dispensed with Nuno Espirito Santo after three games and with Ange Postecoglou following a 39-day tenure.

Forest are now searching for a fourth head coach in barely five months. For whoever comes in, the priority will be Premier League survival.

Dyche’s reign covered 25 matches, returning 10 wins, six draws and nine defeats.

Inconsistency defined his stint, with eye-catching victories over Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Porto offset by some woeful displays. A Europa League play-off with Fenerbahce also looms.
