Osasuna ‘to stick’ to clause as Sunderland face record fee for Victor Munoz

Sunderland will have to break their transfer record to land Victor Munoz, as they try to prise the Spain international from Osasuna amid heavyweight competition.

“We’re not listening, we’re sticking to the clause. Real Madrid have a three-year buy-back option that’s already agreed upon. What we’re doing is enjoying Víctor until the end of the season.” He was speaking to AS.

Reports said Sunderland tabled an initial £20m bid for the winger, then followed up with a proposal involving striker Eliezer Mayenda, but neither was accepted.

The 22-year-old has six goals and five assists in 34 appearances this season, and scored on his Spain debut in a 3-0 friendly win over Serbia.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have both been linked with Munoz in recent months.
