Sunderland must break their transfer record to sign Osasuna winger Victor Munoz, with Real Madrid and Barcelona also in the race.
“We’re not listening, we’re sticking to the clause. Real Madrid have a three-year buy-back option that’s already agreed upon. What we’re doing is enjoying Víctor until the end of the season,” said sporting director Braulio Vazquez, speaking to AS.
The Black Cats have already strengthened out wide by signing Nilson Angulo and Jocelin Ta Bi in January, although injuries have hampered both following moves from Anderlecht and Maccabi Netanya.
Munoz, 22, has six goals and five assists in 34 appearances this season, form that brought a first senior Spain call-up and a debut goal in a 3-0 win over Serbia.
An initial offer of around £20m was said to have been lodged, with a follow-up including Eliezer Mayenda also rejected. Barcelona and Real Madrid have been linked in recent months.
