La Liga giants Real Madrid are continuing to keep a close eye on the performances of a member of the midfield ranks at Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point to Adam Wharton as the player in question.

The name of youngster Wharton has of course long been linked with that of Real Madrid.

This comes with Los Blancos continuing to search for the ideal long-term replacement for Toni Kroos at the base of the club’s midfield.

A whole host of profiles have been taken into consideration, amid a global search.

If the latest word stemming from the media early this week is anything to go by, though, then it is that man Wharton who appears to remain the frontrunner to reinforce Xabi Alonso’s squad.

As per a report from AS, amid the understanding that Manchester United have joined the race for the England international, Real Madrid are continuing to monitor both Wharton’s performances and situation at Crystal Palace, with a view to a future move for his signature.
