Paris Saint-Germain and Racing Club de Lens go head-to-head at the Parc des Princes on Sunday in Ligue 1 action.
Both sides will be looking to continue their positive starts to the season, with PSG sitting top of the table and Lens in sixth.
PSG will be without star forward Ousmane Dembele, who faces approximately six weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty with France. The 28-year-old was substituted during France’s 2-0 win over Ukraine and will miss the crucial clash with former club Barcelona in October. Desire Doue is also ruled out for around four weeks with a calf injury picked up in the same fixture.
Due to the injuries, Goncalo Ramos and Khvicha Kvaratskelia are set to deputise and take Dembele and Doue’s place in the starting XI. Luis Enrique has expressed concern about the injuries sustained on international duty, with PSG sending a formal complaint to the French Football Federation regarding player welfare.
Pierre Sage’s Lens squad has been significantly strengthened with the arrivals of Odsonne Edouard from Crystal Palace and Abdallah Sima from Brighton in the final days of the transfer window. Edouard has signed a three-year deal and brings valuable experience from the Premier League.
Sima, who impressed during his loan spell at Brest last season with 12 goals in 40 appearances, joins on a permanent contract until 2029. However, Lens will be without several players through injury, including Edouard who is nursing an Achilles tendon problem.
Luis Enrique’s side have made a perfect start to their Ligue 1 title defence, winning all three opening fixtures. The Parisians secured a thrilling 6-3 victory over Toulouse, followed by victories against Angers (1-0) and Nantes (1-0). Despite missing key players, PSG’s attacking depth remains formidable with players like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola, and Joao Neves ready to step up. Their last loss was against Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup Final.
Pierre Sage’s team have collected six points from their opening three matches, recording victories over Brest (3-1) and Le Havre (2-1), but suffering a narrow defeat to Lyon (1-0). The arrivals of Edouard and Sima have added significant attacking firepower to a squad that struggled for goals last season.
PSG: Chevalier; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Vitinha, Ruiz, Neves; Barcola, Kvaratskhelia, Ramos.
Lens: Risser; Udol, Gradit, Sarr; Aguilar, Thomasson, Sangare, Machado; Thauvin, Said; Fofana.
