The Chelsea Chronicle has named midfielder Moises Caicedo as the unsung hero in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Wolves yesterday afternoon.

Chelsea blew Wolves away yesterday to continue their winning run in the league under Liam Rosenior.

The Blues grabbed two penalties after mistakes by the home side, with Palmer duly stepping up to slot home with confidence.

The third goal was from open play, with Chelsea now really confident and strutting their stuff. Enzo Fernandez played in Marc Cucurella’s overlapping run, and the full back played a nice cut back to Palmer, who was on hand to slam the ball in to the roof of the net

Wolves did get one back

Chelsea were in dreamland, whilst Wolves were being booed off at half time by their own supporters. They did manage to get a goal back in the second half and played much better, giving Chelsea more to think about. It was frustrating to concede a goal and not build on the first half, but the reality is that Chelsea could have been 4 or 5 goals up at half time, easily. So it was a convincing win in the end for The Blues.

Unsung hero

Despite Palmer grabbing the headlines, it was Caicedo who was named as the unsung hero in this game by The Chronicle.

They wrote:

‘The Ecuador international has enjoyed a super season, although his performance at Wolves is likely going to be one which wrongly goes under the radar.

‘Caicedo was everywhere as per usual. He had 112 touches of the ball, completing a near perfect 94 of his 97 attempted passes.

‘Of those passes, seven of those moved the ball into the final third, as Chelsea had their foot on the throat of their opponents, particularly in the first half.

‘So often known for his defensive brilliance, this area was not forgotten about by the midfielder on Saturday. He won eight of his 11 duels.

‘Elsewhere, there were seven tackles and two interceptions to shout about, potentially easing the worries that could’ve come after Wolves pulled a goal back early in the second half.’

Rosenior goes marching on

The former Strasbourg boss much be pinching himself after the start he has had as Chelsea manager so far. He’s on a good winning run in the league and has only lost two games in his first nine matches overall.

It’s some start and he will be hoping that he can keep this going with his players, a set of players who seem to really be playing for the manager now and really backing him. It seems they have created a rapport already. Long may it continue.
