Kaizer Chiefs winger Pule Mmodi has shared his thoughts on competition for a starting berth at Naturena following an ambitious transfer window.
The Soweto giants brought in host of quality players after qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup by virtue of winning the Nedbank Cup at the expense of Orlando Pirates last season.
Chiefs beefed up the squad with 11 new signings, particularly in the forward line, signing Flavio Silva, Etiosa Ighodaro, Asanele Velebayi, Luke Baartman and on-loan Khanyisa Mayo, among others.
With co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef facing a welcome selection headache, Mmodi has acknowledged that earning a starting spot won't be a walk in the park this campaign.
“I think the players that we have now this season, there is too much competition especially for forward players,” said the former Golden Arrows talisman.
"There is also Velebayi, who plays in my position and I have known him since he was playing for Cape Umoya.
"But what I can say is that there is too much competition and as Mayo said, there are too many strikers in the team. I think everyone is ready to take his opportunity whenever the coach is going to give him.
Meanwhile, Chiefs will return to action with a Betway Premiership clash against Siwelele FC at FNB Stadium on Wednesday (19h30).
