Now that three big-money signings have been completed, Manchester United are focussing on outgoings.
That is because Ruben Amorim wants reinforcements in the middle of the park as well as in goal. And for those deals to materialise, INEOS need to sell well.
Following Benjamin Sesko’s arrival, Rasmus Hojlund is no longer needed by Ruben Amorim, and despite his desire to stay and fight for his place, the club have asked him to leave.
The head coach sent a powerful message when he refused to even sub him on against Fiorentina, and as per recent reports, AC Milan seem to be in pole position.
A loan fee has already been agreed between both clubs, while a breakthrough in talks with regards to the final asking price was also expected to reached this week.
But i Paper has now revealed that four other Serie A clubs are also eyeing the Denmark international, and they have even got in touch with the United No.9’s agents.
The Red Devils are ready to sell him for around £40 million, and the more the interest, the higher the chances of the 20-time English league champions earning an even larger fee.
“Rasmus Hojlund’s underwhelming time at Manchester United appears to be coming to a close, with five Italian clubs interested in bringing the 22-year-old back to Serie A.
“The i Paper understands Inter Milan, Roma, Juventus and Napoli have joined frontrunners AC Milan in making enquiries with Hojlund’s representatives.
“An offer of between £30-40m would be enough to persuade the club to cut their losses on a striker who has failed to live up to the £72m price-tag United paid Atalanta for the Dane two years ago.
“AC Milan are looking to rebuild after a disappointing season last term, with boss Massimiliano Allegri returning for a second spell in charge.
“The Italian giants have identified Hojlund as the perfect central option to boost their goalscoring arsenal. Inter Milan are long-term admirers, as are Juventus and Napoli, while Roma have emerged as another option this week.”
While the Rossoneri are proposing an initial loan deal, the presence of four other suitors mean INEOS can now insist on a permanent sale this window.
