On Saturday night, Real Madrid secured a big win over Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga, reclaiming pole position in the table.

However, the Merengues were given a minor scare as Kylian Mbappe sustained an ankle sprain during the game.

Despite the physical issue, the 26-year-old superstar travelled to France to join up with the national team, but ended up missing the training session on Monday.

Mbappe recovered, will stay with France

However, latest reports bring a positive update as journalist Jose Luis Sanchez on El Chiringuito claims that Mbappe has ‘practically recovered’ from the ankle sprain.

Indeed, the Real Madrid ace is seemingly close to making a full recovery and as such he will remain with the French national team for the rest of the international break.

France manager Didier Deschamps had already confirmed on Monday that the attacker’s issue was a minor one, and he would not have joined with the national team camp if it were not the case.

Les Bleus are not in action until Friday night, when they face Azerbaijan. So, Mbappe still has a few days to fully recover and get ready to lead the team in their World Cup qualifying match.

Real Madrid, though, will be watching the situation closely despite the positive development that he has almost fully recovered.

After all, Xabi Alonso & co. have some crucial matches coming after the international break as they take on Getafe, Juventus, and Barcelona within a week upon the resumption of club football. And having their top goalscorer fit and firing for those matches will be critical.
