La Liga newcomers Real Oviedo have this week announced a setback on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that Ilyas Chaira has picked up an ankle injury.
Winger Chaira was for his part afforded his third start in succession to open the new season last weekend, as Oviedo locked horns with Real Sociedad.
During the first-half, however, the attacker went to ground in evident discomfort.
After it quickly became clear that Chaira was in no fit state to continue, he was in turn hooked from proceedings, replaced by Haissem Hassan.
And as alluded to above, almost a full week later, an update on the wellbeing of the former has come to the fore.
As per a statement across Real Oviedo’s website and social media platforms:
‘Following tests at Clínica Asturias, Real Oviedo player Ilyas Chaira, who was forced to withdraw from the match against Real Sociedad, has a sprained left ankle.
‘The footballer has already begun his treatment and recovery process, pending further developments.’
It now remains to be seen if Chaira recovers in time for Oviedo’s post-international break return to action against Getafe.
