Mohamed Salah has said he wants to ‘say farewell in the right way’ at Liverpool after scoring in his final Merseyside Derby appearance against Everton.
Salah struck the opener as Liverpool claimed a 2-1 win in the first-ever derby at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Virgil van Dijk’s header deep into stoppage time saw the Reds snatch three points, and boost their Champions League hopes.
Salah’s goal was his ninth against Everton in the Premier League, a joint-record in the fixture.
The Egyptian was delighted to leave his mark and hopes he can add more memorable moments in a Liverpool shirt before departing in the summer.
“It feels great. The most important thing was to help the team to settle down and feel more confident,” he said to Sky Sports.
“We knew before the game it was going to be tricky, difficult, and I’m glad we were able to win it.”
“I wish I just keep scoring and help the team to achieve Champions League this season. Hopefully I say farewell in the right way.”
