Santos have no timeline for Lucas Veríssimo’s arrival, with the defender still in Doha as Qatar’s airspace remains restricted by the Middle East conflict.
Diario Do Peixe reports that the club is monitoring the situation but has little room to act, while Brazil’s foreign ministry is assisting nationals seeking to leave.
Veríssimo is in Doha with his wife, children and a household employee. With commercial flights suspended, only special operations have been authorised locally.
On Saturday, limited departures left Hamad International Airport, with Qatar Airways running six humanitarian flights to London, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Frankfurt and Riyadh, mainly for stranded passengers.
On Sunday, a narrow operational corridor allowed flights to Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, London and Zurich. Long-haul regular services, including routes to Brazil, remained cancelled and priority went to the elderly and urgent medical cases.
Passengers have been advised not to go to the airport without direct airline confirmation, given the scarcity of seats.
The family intend to travel together only when it is safe for all of them, including the employee and pets.
Santos have signed Veríssimo permanently for about R$ 25 million, payable in instalments between December 2026 and 2029. He left Corinthians for Al-Duhail in 2024 and is on loan this season at Al-Wakrah.
The conflict began on 28 February and, with no end in sight or full resumption of flights scheduled, his arrival in Brazil remains undefined.
