Santos have promoted under-20 coach Vinícius Marques to join Cuca’s first-team staff, prompting a reshuffle in the academy.

Diário do Peixe reports that Marques becomes Cuca’s assistant and leaves the under-20 role, with Elder Campos moving up from the under-17.

Marques arrived at Santos in April last year as assistant to Cleber Xavier. After Xavier left in August, he took charge of the under-20s and won the Campeonato Paulista at that level.

Following the dismissal of Juan Pablo Vojvoda, he briefly led a first-team training session alongside Cesar Sampaio before Cuca’s arrival.

This is Campos’s second spell with the under-20s. In 2022 his side were runners-up in the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, losing the final to Palmeiras. That campaign fed the senior squad with centre-back Jair Cunha, left-back Lucas Pires and forwards Weslley Patati, Rwan Seco and Lucas Barbosa.

The under-17s will now be led by Luciano Santos, who returned to the club this month initially to coach the under-16s. In a previous stint he worked with Rodrygo, Yuri Alberto, Marcos Leonardo and Kaio Jorge.
