Unlike all of the other clubs in the EFL, it's still uncertain whether the Owls will be able to make any moves for players in the time that remains in the summer.

They will need to get approval from the league before they can push any deals over the line, but Henrik Pedersen's side are doing all they can to make sure that they can get in as many players as possible in cas they get the green light.

Wednesday have not signed a single outfield player this summer, and had it not been for the injury suffered by Pierce Charles, who has been replaced by Cardiff City's Ethan Horvath, they wouldn't have completed any deals this summer.

If they are going to bring in any new faces before 7pm - when the transfer window shuts - it'll most likely be loan moves. They've been in talks with Manchester City over one of their rising talents, Jaden Heskey, who is the son of former England centre-forward Emile Heskey. According to Pete O'Rourke, the EFL have approved this move.

Manchester United defender Harry Amass is another target of theirs. Wednesday have agreed a deal with the Red Devils for the left-back, as has been reported by Sky Sports. Now, like with the Heskey deal, it's over to the EFL to decide whether they will allow this move to happen.

Another name to keep an eye on, according to The Star, is Redmond - the young Villa attacker, not the veteran who has been training with Sheffield United.

The Dutch under-19 international wants to get away from Villa Park and get some regular first-team football this season. While Wednesday have been linked with the forward, Huddersfield Town are the ones who appear to be leading the race for Redmond, as per The Star.

Sheffield Wednesday desperately need new signings to give themselves a slim amount of hope

As soon as the revelations around the Owls' financial state and the subsequent charges began to rain on Hillsborough, people began to quickly realise that Wednesday were the relegation favourites for the Championship this season. Then came the cut-price sales of many top players and the handing in of notices; that's when the hopes of survival really began to fade.

A couple of shock results, especially their two wins in the EFL Cup over Bolton Wanderers and the Premier League's Leeds United, have done wonders to boost morale both within the squad and in the stands, but the reality that this is going to be a slog of a campaign with the current group of players is well-known.
