Southampton's Eckert nominated for Championship Manager of Month award | OneFootball

Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert has been nominated for the Championship’s Manager of the Month for November.

The EFL said in a statement that his strong start amounted to a compelling audition for any permanent role, adding that his approach allowed Saints to play with freedom and express themselves.

Serving as interim through November, he opened with four straight wins while Southampton hovered just above the relegation places.

The run ended with a late 3-2 defeat at play-off hopefuls Millwall in their final game of the month.

Saints have since rebounded with December home victories over Birmingham and West Brom at St Mary’s.

Also shortlisted are Birmingham’s Chris Davies, Derby County’s John Eustace and Coventry City’s Frank Lampard. The judging panel comprises former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies. The winner will be announced on Friday, December 12.
